Spartanburg Methodist’s Hawkins, Georgia Gwinnett College’s Orelesi Receive CAC Women’s Soccer Player of the Week Awards
Helping lead their teams to a pair of victories has earned Spartanburg Methodist College (South Carolina) sophomore Addie Hawkins and Georgia Gwinnett College senior Ola Orelesi recognition as the Continental Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Players of the Week.
Hawkins, the Offensive Player of the Week, had a three-goal week from her forward position to lead the Pioneers to their first two wins of the 2024 season. The Travelers Rest, South Carolina, native found the back of the net twice in SMC's 5-1 win against Columbia College (South Carolina) last Tuesday.
Hawkins followed up that performance by netting the match-winning goal in a 1-0 triumph against Brewton-Parker College last Saturday.
Orelesi, the Defensive Player of the Week, continued her strong start to the 2024 season by scoring a goal and providing an assist for the Grizzlies. The Grayson, Georgia, native scored the eventual match-winning goal with a score off a corner kick in the 15th minute at Xavier University of Louisiana last Tuesday.
The defender contributed to GGC's second tally last Friday against Rocky Mountain College (Montana). The reigning CAC Player of the Year and 2023 NAIA All-American has already scored a career-high two goals and matched her career high with one assist through four matches this fall.
