
Wiley’s Hernandez, Spartanburg Methodist’s Wilson Garner CAC Women’s Soccer Player of the Week Awards
Scoring goals and preventing them have led Wiley University (Texas) sophomore Deyanara Hernandez and Spartanburg Methodist College (South Carolina) freshman Ava Wilson to being recognized as the Continental Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Players of the Week.
Hernandez, the Offensive Player of the Week, scored five goals to lift the Wildcats in an offensive outburst against Tougaloo College (Mississippi). The Edinburg, Texas, native helped Wiley collect its first victory since the 2018 season.
The forward has scored six goals this season, tying for first among all CAC players. Her 12 points stand third best in the conference.
Wilson, the Defensive Player of the Week, recorded a pair of shutouts as the Pioneers blanked Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (Georgia) 5-0 last Tuesday and Columbia International University (South Carolina) last Thursday.
The Greenville, South Carolina, native made two saves in 80:36 of action against Abraham Baldwin before recording five saves against CIU.
